The Best Pizzas in Paris - Les Meilleures Pizzas de Paris

I am weak for those silky soft Neapolitan pizzas that arrive piping hot still bubbling from the brick oven straight onto my plate. A perfect golden crust colour. Not chewy or crunchy just fluffy and springy. That is just what a pizza deserves to be.

The Unbearable Lightness of Black

“Light” and “black” are opposing forces, contradicting and refuting each other. Fused together they create an impossible oxymoron. Canceling each other out. Except when they are on one of Pierre Soulages’ canvases. One of the major abstract artists of the present day, Soulages strives to expose the powerful bond between light and black and unravel their coexisting strength. This journey is currently on display in a retrospective of the artist at the Centre Pompidou. The artist’s sixty-year career is encapsulated in over a hundred of his works starting in 1946.

Cinderella in Exile

Like most young girls I wanted to be a princess when I grew up. Our VCR tirelessly played "Disney's Cinderella" and I would watch her glittering finale gown and dream of my own special day. In a puffy white dress. Prince Charming arriving in his horse-drawn carriage. I would watch my mother primping herself before the ballet, rosying her cheeks and twisting her hair. I was hypnotized by her silky dresses and misty perfume, impatiently waiting for the day I would be old enough to play dress-up.

Visiting Marie-José de Savoie's trousseau at the Mona Bismarck Foundation conjured up these memories. Her sumptuous "wedding chest" is fit to delight any girl's imagination.

Tuscany, Italy

If you are planning on touring Tuscany, rent a car and buy the Red Italy Michelin guide, a must for hotel and restaurant recommendations. Tuscany is vast so make sure to plan your trip ahead of time. www.viamichelin.com is a great orientation guide and can prevent you from trawling up and down the countryside.

The Rustic Charm of Los Roques

It soon felt like I was trespassing onto a secret, mystical land.
“Where are you going on your honeymoon,” I was asked during the nuptial planning.
“Los Roques?” was my half answer.
I was met with eyes either wrinkled in confusion or seeped in nostalgic longing. It was a good sign. Los Roques was either unknown or revered.
